Audience segments allow you to connect with different groups within your existing audience and curate content specifically for them.
Segments are created a few ways
- Keywords that create audience tags 🏷️
- Data you collect at sign-up or import ✔️
How to Create a Keyword
- Click on New Broadcast in the top navigation bar.
- Fill out your broadcast body and other optional fields in the same way you usually do.
- In the bottom left composer action tray, click on the "Create Tag" icon.
- A modal will then appear, with an input field to enter a new keyword tag. Existing rules for keywords still apply.
- Enter the desired word, phrase, or emoji and click Create Tag. A success banner will then appear confirming the tag creation.
- Then you'll simply include this keyword with a call-to-action in your text for your audience to be tagged into the appropriate segment. See example below.
*Tags are not case sensitive, but they do need to be sent back as a separate word with no additional punctuation in order for the tag to be applied in the system.
How to create segments at sign-up
Now, we have the ability to segment your audience right from the beginning! 😱
- Start by navigating to the Campaign tab of your dashboard and select Campaign Sign-up on the lefthand side.
2. Then, scroll down to Sign-up Form Subscriber Preferences.
3. From here, you have the option to collect additional data fields from subscribers when they sign-up, by toggling on the Enable subscriber preferences checkboxes option.
And the best part? These options are completely customizable. 🙌🏻
Example
I want to understand what information my fans want updates on when they sign up for my SMS line.
I'm going to include the following tags for pre-sale and merch to collect this information.
This will then display on the sign-up form for fans to opt into. ⬇️
And voila! Your fans are already tagged into this segments and you can begin texting to them right away without any keywords.
