      SMS is a highly regulated industry. It requires carrier registration to ensure that all businesses are legitimate, and that no subscriber is receiving texts without consent. Subtext complies with all carrier registration guidelines around texting to ensure all hosts and subscribers are protected. And we take care of the registration for you!

      Your job: the content 📚

      The content of your texts is up to you! But carriers do have content guidelines in place to prevent anyone receiving offensive messages, phishing scams, or SPAM-like content. Texts that include things like dollar signs, abbreviations, and incorrect grammar often appear spam-like to the carrier networks and run the risk of getting flagged as fraud.

      • DO make texts conversational.
      • DO encourage your subscribers to save your contact card to avoid being marked as spam.
      • DO include opt out language in every text.
      • DO use shortened links wisely. Free versions of link shorteners like bit.ly and Tiny URL are often used for spam. (Purchased versions from these sites are acceptable).
      • DO avoid banned content. A full list can be found here. 

      Don'ts 🚫

      • DON’T send unsolicited texts. Make sure subscribers have opted into communication.
      • DON’T overuse links. Sending more than one link per message can look suspicious to carriers.
      • DON’T use banned language. A full list can be found below.
      • DON’T use dollar signs, ALL CAPS, spammy slang, excessive abbreviations, extreme punctuation.
      • DON’T use freebie spam words.

      **Any use of these words/phrases as they pertain to sports betting can result in carrier filtering and suspended accounts.
